CAC is a commercial-scale sea water production site for Atlantic salmon running trials under natural rearing conditions, based on a statutory R&D concession.
The purpose of CAC is to conduct testing of new diets or novel technologies prior to industry implementation, together with industry partners Skretting and Akva Group and scientific partners NIFES and Norwegian Veterinary Institute. Testing of diets are normally run through a complete sea water production cycle, allowing us to monitor and document growth, quality and fish health of our salmon under realistic conditions.
The projects at CAC have to be approved by the authorities prior to start, and results in general should be publicly available. During the last years the activities at CAC have focused on testing new diets with high inclusion levels of vegetable based proteins and fats.
